Trial Clubs: A New Door Opens

Season 9 marks the start of something special. For the first time, every football fan can step into MFL and run a club for a full season — free. No fee. No waiting. Just football.

Trial Clubs launch on Tuesday, October 7.

This is the biggest opening we’ve ever made. Owning a club has always been a financial commitment, and that made some people watch from the sidelines. That changes now. Trial clubs give every new manager one full season to live it all: contracts, tactics, wins, losses, the lot.

One Season to Live It

New manager? You claim a club, and it’s yours for one campaign. Fixtures, cups, transfer windows, tactics, matchdays. Everything that makes MFL what it is.

At the end, they decide. Lock it in and keep building with the rewards they earned. One full season. The real thing.

What managing a trial club means

  • Compete in league and cup competitions for one full season.
  • Build your squad: sign player contracts with other managers, or acquire players via Packs or the MFL Marketplace.
  • Set tactics and lineups and tinker as you like throughout the season (formations, instructions, etc.).
  • Earn rewards from results; they stay locked to the club and unlock when purchased.

The Framework

Trial clubs are a new way in. To keep the game balanced and the experience authentic, they come with clear rules. Enough freedom to feel the real MFL, enough limits to protect what’s already been built.

As a new manager, here’s what they can expect:

Duration

One full season, start to finish. When the season ends, the club is either purchased or destroyed.

The single-season structure ensures every club in the pyramid is actively managed and competing.

Rewards & Competition

  • All $MFL winnings stay inside the club and only unlock if purchased.
  • Trial clubs start in the lowest division of the pyramid. Right now, that’s Flint.
  • If promoted, they only move up if purchased at the end of the season.

The ecosystem remains fair for paying managers, while giving new ones real incentives to commit.

Contracts & Revenue

  • Trial clubs can use up to 30% of revenue share to sign players.
  • 3% max per contract, including match clauses.
  • Three contracts max with the same agent.

Enough to build, not enough to abuse. Trial club managers get a real taste of the economy and can find players to sign. Agents have more clubs to choose from. At the same time, we close potential loopholes. Win, win.

Ownership

  • Only available to managers that have never owned a club. Max. one trial club per manager.
  • Clubs are off-chain until purchased and cannot be sold. This means trial clubs don’t add to the real supply of clubs in MFL. Existing clubs remain just as scarce.
  • Locations are random, just like paid clubs.

Trial clubs are designed to create new stories without breaking old ones — fresh energy, more competition, and every safeguard in place to keep the ecosystem strong.

Every new club means more to play for. It means more for all of us.

Transfers heat up. New rivalries emerge. More deals get struck. The pyramid tightens, the league breathes louder.

After four years of building and eight full seasons, MFL has the structure and stability to welcome a wider, more mainstream audience. The foundation is strong. The doors are open.

This is the spark: new managers discovering what it feels like to negotiate contracts, to ride the high of an upset win or the sting of a last-minute defeat. The real MFL experience, now accessible to everyone ready to prove themselves.

Guided From Day One

Alongside trial clubs, we’re rolling out a smoother clubcreation flow and a checklist that rewards managers with $MFL as they explore the basics — scouting, loans, transfers, tactics.

The aim is to take new managers by the hand in their first days so that, when the fixtures arrive, they’re already part of the rhythm.

Spread The Word

This is it. The season where MFL throws open the doors.
Flint buzzing, leagues filling. The game alive like never before.

One season to step in, prove yourself. Make it count.

PS: Even if you’re already a club owner, you might want to be there for the launch celebrations on Tuesday, October 7th.
