More Rewards, New Player Rarities for MFL Season 4

As we gear up for Season 4, we’re making some significant updates to the reward system and other moving parts of MFL’s economy. From introducing new player rarities to refining how rewards are distributed across leagues and cups, these changes are designed to create an even more sustainable economy and a more rewarding experience for club owners and agents.

Here’s a quick TL;DR, but do continue scrolling past that for a more detailed breakdown of the changes. Let’s get into it!

TL;DR

  • New Player Rarities — Limited (OVR 55–64) and Ultimate (OVR 95+) are being introduced to refine pack compositions and make high-end players feel even more premium.
  • Adjusted Player Distribution — The average generated player OVR will drop from 62 to 57, making top-tier players even rarer.
  • Age and Longevity Adjustments — The average age will increase while the average longevity (LON) will decrease slightly for newly generated players.
  • Prize Pool Update — Reward calculations have been tweaked to take the player’s age into consideration and put even more emphasis on sustainability. Season 4 rewards will go up by over 40%!
  • League & Cup Balancing — League rewards will now account for 75% of the total pool, with a flatter distribution ensuring every club fights for a better finish.
  • New Competitive Rules — Minimum OVR requirements per division, stricter forfeits, group-stage rewards in the IMFF Cup to ensure fair play and active competition, no more multi-season contracts, and more.

🌟 Introducing Two New Player Rarities

  • Limited (OVR 55–64) → This fills the gap between Common and Uncommon players, allowing for more granular rewards and pack pricing. With this change, Common players will now be OVR 40–54.
  • Ultimate (OVR 95+) → A new top-tier rarity, making 95+ OVR players feel truly elite and exclusive.

This update helps differentiate lower-tier players more effectively. At the top end, Ultimate players will introduce an extra level of prestige to the game.

All players who currently have an OVR rating matching that of the new tiers will automatically be switched over to that tier!

📦 Reshaping Player Generation

Overall Rating (OVR)

Player generation will now shift, with the average generated OVR dropping from 62 to 57. This makes high-rated players rarer and increases the number of lower-rated players, creating a clearer pathway for new managers to enter the game with affordable signings.

Distribution of players per rarity tier at mint. These percentages are indicative and are subject to changes or adjustments.

By adjusting the rarity distribution, top players will become scarcer — Rare players, for example, will now be three times scarcer than before. This change keeps the market competitive and ensures that standout talents remain valuable.

Longevity (LON)

We’re making a slight change to the Longevity attribute of players that will be generated moving forward. They will now retire at 35 on average, instead of 37 for the players generated until now. This allows us to have a more easily sustainable and realistic retirement curve and — together with the below — it plays a big part in the rewards increase.

Age

The average age of players that will be generated in the future is also changing, going from 21–22 years old to 22–23.

Just like with the change to the longevity, this only affects players that we’ll generate from this point forward: Although your players’ hidden attributes remain unaffected, you’ll still get to enjoy the increase in rewards made possible by those changes!

💰 A New Model for Prize Pool Calculations

The rewards in MFL aren’t arbitrary — they come from you, the managers, through the players and clubs actively participating in competitions. That’s why we’re refining the prize pool model to make it even more sustainable, fair, and dynamic — which in resulting in an 40%+ increase in the rewards (!) 💸

We’ve tweaked the model to better take into consideration competition and market dynamics:

  • Using player OVR, historical market data, and now player age, we estimate the total economic impact of players in competition.
  • That value is then divided by the average career length to determine how much $MFL is “in play” for the season.
  • 90% of that value forms the prize pool for leagues and cups.

This model ties rewards directly to user activity and player value. The more active clubs and valuable players in circulation, the bigger the rewards can get — a system that benefits engaged managers.

With this change, Season 4 rewards will see a significant increase, with more $MFL up for grabs than ever before. 🏆

🏆 New League & Cup Reward Distribution

After many passionate debates within the community, we’ve taken your feedback into account and made some key adjustments to how rewards are distributed — all while staying true to MFL’s competitive structure.

First of which is the distribution between the Leagues and the IMFF Cup. With leagues forming the backbone of MFL’s competitive structure, we’re shifting the reward split:

  • Leagues now receive 75% of the prize pool (up from 70%)
  • Cups will account for 25% (down from 30%)

This adjustment places more emphasis on league consistency while keeping cup runs rewarding but unpredictable.

Secondly, each division will now receive 4**% more prize pool than the division below it**, reinforcing the incentive to push for promotion. On average, a league at a higher division will have 2.08x the rewards of one in the tier below. On top of the global increase, we’ve applied a 25% boost for the top three finishers in the top tier, the Diamond League, to recognize the best of the best.

Lastly, the League rewards are being flattened slightly, giving clubs at the bottom more $MFL while ensuring that the last-place club in a division still earns at least as much as the second-place team in the division below.

📦 Reward Pack Price Update

We’re reducing the price of the Legendary reward pack from 360,000 to 325,000 $MFL, and the Rare reward pack from 52,000 to 47,000 $MFL. This ~10% reduction will give top division club owners more purchasing power and is effective immediately.

From rollover day, a Limited reward pack will be introduced for the price of 3,000 $MFL. The Common (which will become 40–54 OVR) reward pack will be available for 600 $MFL.

We’re also planning to add more Reward Pack options with a 5-OVR range, allowing you to, for example, buy a pack that guarantees a player with an OVR between 75–79 or 80–84. Look out for these!

👊 IMFF Cup Rewards: More at Stake in Group Stage Matches

Previously, cup rewards were heavily weighted toward teams that made deep runs. Now, a portion of the prize pool will be distributed based on group stage match results, meaning every match has real stakes. Win and you’ll earn $MFL, that simple.

For example, a win in the Titans Cup group stage will secure 14,000 $MFL for the club, while a team in the top Challengers Cup tier will get 1,500 $MFL per win.

👔 Active Squad Management & New Rules

To maintain competition integrity, new rules are coming into effect:

  • Clubs with more than five forfeits in a season will not be eligible for rewards.
  • If a club fields a squad with more than five players below 60% energy, they will automatically forfeit the match.
  • Additionally, a new minimum OVR requirement will be introduced for each division (with 5 players exempt from it), ensuring that top-level competitions feature appropriately strong squads.
  • The IMFF Cup drawings will now consider the top 11 players under contract at the club, rather than the top 18 players previously.
  • We’re doing away with multi-season contracts, as they weren’t being utilized to the level we expected and brought unnecessary complexity that downgraded the experience for newer users.

These measures ensure that rewards go to engaged, active managers while preventing teams from exploiting loopholes.

Looking Ahead to Season 4

These updates are designed to improve the competitive structure, reinforce the value of high-OVR players, and ensure a more sustainable economy. With a larger prize pool, a clearer player rarity system, and refined competition rewards, Season 4 is shaping up to be the most rewarding season in MFL yet.

The current season is very, very far from over though, so here’s to a fantastic second half of Season 3!
