Announcing MFL Alpha Season 0.1: The First-Ever League Season!

The moment we’ve all been waiting for is finally upon us — the first-ever League season is set to take place early next month! After countless hours of preparation, we’ve finalized the rewards, rules, and conditions, all of which are aimed at providing an engaging and challenging experience to all Club owners.

A Glimpse into the General Info & Structure

Leagues are MFL’s season-long competition format. There are 63 different leagues across the 6 divisions that form the pyramidal structure, from the Iron division all the way up to the Diamond League. Each League will see 12 Clubs compete for the title.

The League structure in MFL

Leagues operates on a double round-robin format, meaning that each team plays every other team twice. The point system is straightforward; three points for a win, one for a draw, and none for a defeat. Team rankings are determined first by total points, then goal difference, and lastly, goals scored. If you own an established Club, you’ll automatically be entered into one of the leagues within your Division.

Alpha Season 0.1 Rules

You will need 18 players under contract in order to register your team for the Season. There are no caps or restrictions for squad-building, giving you complete freedom to manage your teams. However, it’s important to note that rewards vary significantly based on the Division a Club is competing in.
This, together with the fact that there will be no promotions or relegations during this inaugural season, means it’s essential a good idea to align your players in a Division that suits their talent level.

Five Matches, then time to rest

A crucial rule for this season is that players can only participate in five consecutive league matches before needing a rest match. This temporary rule will put your strategic planning abilities to the test with the aim of simulating the dynamics of a long season. It will be deprecated once conditioning features like fatigue and energy have been deployed.

Failure to meet eligibility requirements (including the above) prior to a match will result to the match being forfeited.

Testing, Testing, Testing

While our main objective is to provide a fun and fulfilling gaming experience, we also hope to gather valuable data and feedback during these competitions to further refine and improve MFL.

During this first season, there will be limited functionalities and some key mechanics (such as aging and progression) will not be available. League rewards have therefore been scaled back compared to what can be expected once all features are operational.

Season Schedule

Alpha Season 0.1 will start on July 3rd and last approximately six calendar weeks. We will re-open the transfer window between the end of the Pre-Season Tournament (which takes place July 19–23) and the beginning of Alpha Season 0.1, allowing you the opportunity to sign new players to your clubs or renegotiate existing deals.

Here’s the timeline of events until the season kicks off:

Reward Structure

Rewards for this season will come in the form of MFL Points, a currency that you can use to redeem new players at specified costs. The cost varies based on the player’s rarity tier.

The division your Club competes in and your League ranking will determine your MFL Points haul at the end of the season.

Thank you so much for being a part of this journey. We can’t wait to see how this exciting first season unfolds. Let’s get this party started!
